The renovation at the main library of Huittinen is starting the following Monday. It will influence visiting hours during next summer.
–“Oodi” (referring to the modern library in Helsinki) will be renovated from floor to ceiling, the director of library and culture services of Huittinen, Anni Tormas summarizes.
The renovation will start by renewing the lower ceiling of the lobby. Arto Suuniitty, the construction manager of Huittinen says there will be structural repair to the ceiling which is necessary because of the changing of the wooden structures over time.
The repair is expected to take from six to ten weeks, as three parts of the roof will be fixed individually. When the part closest to the main door is being repaired, the library will be closed. Suuniitty estimates that when this happens, we are living in mid-June.
The date of completion of the renovation is not yet known, but Suuniitty predicts that it will be at the end of July.
Tormas points out that after the repairs are completed, there will be a thorough cleaning ahead, so the doors won’t be opened to customers until this is done.
