Living in a condominium requires civic skills 

The youth should be taught the basic skills in school, thinks the host association.

How do you clean a floor drain, how to defrost a refrigerator, what happens if you keep the window open in a cold weather or what to do if it seems you’re unable to pay the rent or the maintenance charge?

Over 2,7 million Finns live in a condominium. Many first-time condominium residents don’t know the ways of the housing company or where to get help for each problem they face in the home. The host association offers teaching the basic skills of living at different education levels as a solution.

It would be important to learn the rules of the housing association world in secondary school, so that you wouldn’t have to learn the rules of the game the hard way. You can’t assume that “someone else” will take care of the problems, even in a rental.

The hosting association has designed a game, Asumisen opetus, which gives teachers some help with students who are on the threshold of independence.
