The training now aimed at Suttila was connected to the defibrillator project, which SataKylät ry awarded as the town act last year. Seven local operators were given a defibrillator and a heated cabinet to store it.

In the training classes the townspeople have been guided on how to use the defibrillator, so everyone would be able to act fast and right in the unfortunate event of a real situation.

–The goal is to lower the threshold for using a defibrillator. It’s important to know that you can’t hurt anyone with the device, highlights Jenni Mannila from SPR.

Each of the defibrillators purchased for the project has been named a person responsible for them, who will take care that they are always in commission. SPR emergency department comforted that it is an easy job: the battery for the device and the electrodes that attach it to the chest have been given a five-year service life.
